A $499 investment: Safeguarding your transformation
Bariatric surgery requires a significant emotional, physical, and financial commitment. Given the overall out-of-pocket costs of surgery in Australia, a $499 (incl GST) psychological assessment is a modest but vital investment in securing the best possible long-term outcome.
This investment includes:
Dedicated 60-minute deep-dive consultation: A focused, 1-on-1 collaborative session (available via secure Telehealth Australia-wide, or in-person). As clinical psychologists, we go beyond your relationship with food and explore your emotional wellbeing, self-concept, life stressors, coping styles, habits, and surgery expectations.
Evidence-based insights: The questionnaires you complete prior to your appointment have been carefully selected based on research science and our extensive clinical experience in bariatric care.
Comprehensive report for your surgeon and health care team: An important component in integrated treatment planning.
Tailored post-surgery blue-print: Based on the clinical assessment and questionnaires, you will received a curated toolkit of practical, evidence-based resources and strategies to start using immediately.
Please note that Medicare does not provide a rebate for assessments and reports. Private health insurance may cover some costs, however it is your responsibility to check this with your insurance company prior to booking an assessment.

Your surgeon or GP may have requested that you have an assessment prior to treatment.
Alternatively, you may have decided that you would benefit from an assessment yourself.
Please complete the contact us form on this website and let us know whether your surgeon or GP has asked for an assessment or if you are seeking an assessment for yourself. Once we receive your inquiry, we will email you a client information sheet to help you make a decision about whether you would like to go ahead and book an assessment.
